Peter Boot (1961) studied Mathematics and Dutch Literature at the universities of Leiden and Utrecht. His PhD degree (2009) focused on a study of digital annotation and its potential meaning for humanities scholarship. He helped create the Emblem Project Utrecht (http://www.let.uu.nl/emblems/) and oversaw the creation of the digital edition of Van Gogh's letters (http://vangoghletters.org/). Boot is a senior researcher at the Huygens Institute for the History of the Netherlands. He is a consultant on several digital edition projects. His research interests now focus on online literary discussion.
