Associate Curator of Sculpture and decorative Arts in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Anne-Lise Desmas received her Diplôme de recherche from the Ecole du Louvre and her Ph.D in art history from Paris-IV Sorbonne. Her research specialization is Early Modern sculpture in France and Italy and she has published extensively in this field. At the Getty, she contributed to the exhibition and the catalogue Bernini and the Birth of Baroque Portrait Sculpture and co-curated the exhibitions Cast in Bronze and Leonardo da Vinci and the Art of Sculpture. She is preparing the online catalogue of the Northern European sculpture collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum and is also involved in the Getty Research Institute's research project Display of Art in Roman Palaces in the Long 17th Century. Former pensionnaire in the French Academy in Rome, she was responsible for the publications of this institution and has since then been involved in the creation and follow-up of several databases (dealing with objects, artists, images and archival documents)
